In the fast-paced modern world that we live in today, image has become a very important thing to many people. On the covers of magazines, on billboards across streets, on television and in the movie theatres we see beautiful people paraded before us as the desired image. Many people strive their entire lives to reach that goal and some reach it to some extent. Others, however, face a daily struggle with trying to lose the excess weight as they try one diet after the other and countless different types of weight loss pills. But as more and more different pills come out on to the market the question starts to rise: do they really work?
If you have ever walked through a supermarket's health section you have probably noticed the rows and rows of different weight loss pills that line the shelves. They come in all shapes, sizes and descriptions. Each one offers you the easy way to lose those extra pounds in a matter of days. This one exclaims the wondrous properties of some Eastern herb while the other touts the new and improved formula that was developed by Swiss researchers. Whatever the pills proclaim they do, there are certain trends amongst the different pills:
" Absorbs fat before being absorbed by the body;
" Increases metabolism;
" Decreases appetite; and
" Increases fat burning.
That is what they claim to do but do they actually do what they claim to?
Most prescription medication has to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration before it can be prescribed to patients. These drugs go through a rigorous list of tests to make sure that they are safe for people to use. Most weight loss pills, however, do not. The tests for these products are not are rigorous and some do not even have to pass any test before they arrive on the shelves of the supermarket. That is not to say they are not safe for consumption, though, it just means that there is no actual guarantee that the pills do what they say they do. Then again, in many cases it is not the pill that is the problem, but the person.
Most people believe that since they are taking this pill the pounds will just melt away. Not many people actually read that little insert that suggests a calorie-controlled diet along with the pills. As of yet there is no wonder pill that will allow you to eat whatever you want in enormous quantities and not gain weight. Any weight loss pill needs to be taken along with a controlled diet. Many pills actually come with their own suggested diets for the optimal weight loss. If you follow it then pill can actually do its work more effectively.
The fact of the matter is that there is no miracle weight loss pill that will allow you to shed pounds in days. There are pills that can help you lose weight more easily, but the work is still yours. At the end of the day a healthy diet and some light exercise will win out in the end - with or without the pills. Just be sure to consult your doctor before starting any new weight loss program or taking any new pills.
